“There is no such thing as a perfect parent. So just be a real one.” –Sue Atkins
Parenting had been always a challenging task which varies from generation to generation. Being a 90's kid, I barely watched television. Most of us had a chirpy, nature loving childhood where we never worried about being trending or societal judgements. Do consider the fact that we are now hooked to the digital media as per the generation standards then we obviously need to think about today's generation who have such exposures with much ease. Starting from recording the first smile, first walk, first word and such, we parents give the first glimpse of a digital world. But is it possible to keep our child out of it? There are lot of cases where the parents typically bribe the children with gadgets to get work done and worry later that the child doesn't pay attention to other things. For such cases and for new parents who are confused about upbringing in the digital era, this book is a bliss!
Author's writing style is appreciable where she makes her content delightful, humourous, simple language and thought provoking. Some real life incidents/assumptions/researches mentioned in the book are quite relatable. Gained good knowledge of how the misusage of digital world causes an impact on the sensitive little mind of the children, which was petrifying to read. While people generally advise parents to put gadgets away, here author suggests many ways to have a balanced digital time without interrupting the childhood treasures.
Book kept me hooked up till the end. It is free of boring advises and unrealistic parenting stuffs. Cyberbullying, addiction, unware of the physical phenomenon and much more are covered here. Much much recommended for new parents and couples planning for pregnancy! Trust me parental behvaiour during pregnancy creates a huge impact on the little ones! Do give it a try!
